- I can’t make a definitive ruling on this, but I feel like this might be the first mainstream movie to feature anal beads.
- The Holy Foreskin subplot was highly amusing and kind of tragic when Victor seemed to believe it a little bit, or at least believed it when he had nothing left to go on.
- I want to be Anjelica Huston when I’m old. She was far and away the best part of this movie and I want to keep her in the back of my mind in January when they announce the Best Supporting Actress nominees. I really think she was that good in this.
- I don’t ever want to get dementia.
- Victor works as a historical interpreter at some sort of re-created 18th century heritage site and the best line came when a milk maid was giving him an incredibly long hand job and said “You know, if this was a churn we’d have butter by now.” ZING.
- Do all of Chuck Palahniuk’s novels feature protagonists with multiple personalities who lose their ability to do what it is they do (sleep, have sex) when they meet a woman they secretly end up liking? Also, dude loves the self-help circuit.
- Loved when young!Victor saw his own face on the milk carton.
- I think I really am desensitized to stuff that is supposed to be shocking. We ran into some people I went to high school with after the film and one of them said she liked the movie enough to recommend it to friends but with the caveat that it’s really fucked up. I agreed at the time because one should show solidarity, but in retrospect I’m not really sure what was terribly fucked up about it as compared to other movies. Clearly my perspective is skewed.
- This has nothing to do with this movie, but I can’t get the line “Bob had bitch tits” out of my head.
Even with going to the film festival this year, I’m still behind where I was at this point last year in terms of number of movies seen in theatres. So far to date I’ve been to the movies 59 times this year; I reached 59 on September 12 last year. I had a really bad July this year and I think that’s put me behind. I’m aware I’m a total loser for keeping track of these things.
