I saw Colony this afternoon but don’t really have too much to say about it. It’s one part capitalism, one part salt of the earth people, one part ecology, etc. and basically brings you back to high school biology, which was definitely the last time I paid much attention to the very delicate balance of the ecosystem. Fun fact I learned: bee keeping is a migratory thing in North America, so bees get shipped all over the continent to pollinate different crops before getting packed up and shipped out somewhere else the next month to pollinate a different set of crops. In my mind, bee keeping has always been a rather quaint, Disney-like endeavour so at the very least this movie dispels that sort of belief.
Colony
Will be appropriate for high school biology classrooms when it finds a place on DVD.
IMDB Plot Synopsis Several beekeepers around the U.S. cope with colony collapse disorder - the phenomenon that has caused millions of bees to mysteriously disappear.
