I’m actually sad this movie wasn’t better than I thought it would be. Can RPATTZ act outside of twilight and HP though?

It’s for a micro-scene where Ally and Tyler’s mom have a conversation about being social workers. Of course, as they always warn you, just because a movie passes the test on some small level it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily kind to women. Even Twilight apparently passes. :)

The whole entire movie I was just thinking why not just move back to the city. I would want to kill my self if i lived in Ct. too. I was seriously getting angry with them for not even considering it an option.

Re the apparent anachronism of Santana’s Abraxas and Creedence’s Cosmo’s Factory, I was complaining about it to a devoted film buff, and he insisted that the Coens would never have done that by mistake. Those albums are mentioned for a reason.

So we asked ourselves: what could the reason be? Well, think about the titles. The title of Santana’s Abraxas came from Herman Hesse’s Demian, a book that was very popular among counterculture types in the late ’60s/early ’70s. In the book, another character tells Demian about Abraxas, the god that contains both good and evil. In the film, Larry tells Dutton: “I don’t want Santana’s Abraxas!” But maybe the Coens are saying that Abraxas is coming whether Larry wants it or not.

As for the Creedence album, it’s more of a stretch, but take the title out of context and just look at the words by themselves: Cosmos. Factory. The cosmos may not make sense. It may just be a factory, churning out the lives of the people within it.

Interesting to think about anyway.

I have actually been to that theme park. That crucifying skit went all over the park, we had to follow it. It completely freaked me out. I was a kid too, all I wanted to do was go to Disney World.

On the other hand, they had this totally cool miniature of Jerusalem. complete with tiny people. That was fun.

I’m gonna go rent this movie now.

You summed up my thoughts quite well, thank you! I keep thinking of this movie because I expected so much more and ended up depressed and disappointed. Especially given the current times, where people are losing their homes and good jobs, however boring, are hard to find, their “drama” just seems so out of line …. self inflicted. Don’t need to see this one again, but yes, I also loved the clothing, furniture, and music!

I got confused, the one I loved best was the lady and the reaper it was SO great and upsetting and hilarious at the same time. The electrical thing tossed on the water was the best/most disturbing part!
