- Admittedly, this felt really, really long but it’s apparently only two hours. The pacing seemed okay, it just felt long.
- I didn’t realise there was an equivalent to “mom jeans” until Clive Owen showed up in Miami wearing the equivalent of what can only be called “dad jeans”. Poor costuming choice.
- The plot seemed needlessly elaborate and complicated, but if you miss a few things here and there it doesn’t really matter since ultimately you have to suspend your disbelief that anyone would go to all this trouble in the first place to screw over a competitor. They make fun of this somewhat when after a long and labyrinthine chase to find a specific photocopier that can remotely duplicate the copied info at another location, Julia Roberts asks why she couldn’t have just faxed an important document instead. Occam’s Razor, this ain’t.
- The humour in this was unexpected and much more prevalent than I was expecting. Even jokes that kind of felt flat in the trailer (the whole Appletini thing) evolved into something much more hilarious (Julia Roberts silently interrogating the Appletini woman). Same with the running pizza joke. Maybe the jokes were funnier because I wasn’t expecting consistent humour, I don’t know.
- Clive Owen is looking pretty emaciated these days. Julia Roberts is looking more and more like that platypus face she makes in The Runaway Bride.
- I have precious few specific recollections of this movie and am now sorry I’m writing the review several days after seeing the movie.
