01. This premise of this movie is Michael Scott Grows A Really Long Beard While Building A Large Boat. Which is amusing, obviously, but you kind of want Steve Carell to get offered better roles, or at least different roles, since he was so awesome as not-Michael in Little Miss Sunshine. Obviously LMS is a completely different type of film made in a completely different way for a completely different type of audience, but still. One hopes for Steve Carell to not always get type cast.
02. I think Wanda Sykes’ character was written to be absolutely hysterical except for the part where she totally wasn’t. Her jokes were all these little one liners that just kept missing the mark in some small but incredibly significant way and I kind of wanted her to shut up.
03. John Goodman was really bad in this.
04. That was a pretty sweet ark they built, I have to say. I kind of want to build an ark now.
05. Really, the best part was the out takes during the credits of the entire cast and crew dancing. Morgan Freeman is hysterical and I would totally join any conga line lead by him. There was one shot of him in the foreground dancing and in the background you can see Steve Carell doing some moves strongly reminiscent of “Booze Cruise” and I died because omg, his dancing kills me. Sometimes you just have to be the boss of dancing.
06. Actually, the best part of this movie is that we bought our tickets for Live Free or Die Hard tomorrow. Wait, that’s not actually a part of this movie.
