Hairspray

I kind of love Zac Efron.

IMDB Plot Synopsis Pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.

01. Nothing will ever beat Christopher Walken and John Travolta doing the tango, complete with perfect tango costuming. Walken is kind of ridiculous in everything he’s been in for the last while, but at least this movie capitalizes on that wonderfully.

02. James Marsden has the straightest and whitest teeth in Hollywood. He’s also the only one who can look that earnest all the time. He’s kind of freaking adorable.

03. I love how Penny tried to do the trendy tall hair look, only she completely failed by having it in ponytails.

04. Nikki Blonsky is ridiculously awesome.

05. Awesome costuming and set design.

06. Detention is no longer detention when there is no supervision and all you’re doing is dancing.

07. I am rather fond of Queen Latifah.

08. It’s nice to have a musical that is just fun, you know? There was nothing oppressingly serious about this the way Dreamgirls was in part. I think the fact that the vast majority of the movie was comprised of musical numbers (as opposed to songs separated by vast expanses of dialogue) really helped.

09. Allison Janney FTW, although I thought the bit where she threw holy water at her daughter and called her the devil was a bit much and not terribly funny.

10. I wish I could dance.
