- My understanding was that this was supposed to be like Scream in how it subverts the teen horror genre but it only felt halfway successful. When it was campy and ironic it was pretty hysterical but then other times it felt like it played into the same kinds of things that cause me to avoid said teen horror flicks.
- I enjoyed that J.K. Simmons had a hook for a hand and that they never bothered explaining it.
- If you hated how strongly Diablo Cody’s voice shone through in Juno, you probably won’t hate this as much because it’s significantly toned down.
- Needs more irony.
- I kind of loved Adam Brody and his hilarious Killers tribute band. I think my favourite part might have been when he was describing the sacrifice ceremony to the band and he told the one guy he would have to wear Jennifer’s face. I just love anything where wearing someone else’s face would be a logical part of any ceremony. Actually, I think that whole scene might have been my favourite.
- I thought it was pretty unnecessary to show the band murdered at the end. We assume that Needy is going to go kill them; I don’t really need to see it as a perfunctory thing tacked on in order to make the audience stay put and watch the credits.
- If Needy had gotten some of Jennifer’s demonic powers when Jennifer scratched her, why did she wait so long to escape the mental institution?
- I was quite convinced that Jason Reitman was cameo-ing as the drummer in Low Shoulder, but IMDB is telling me I’m wrong. Diablo Cody was definitely in a couple of shots, first the opening shot at the bar the girls go to and then again in the crowd of goth mourners at Colin’s funeral.
Jennifer’s Body
I’ve definitely seen far worse movies this year, so I’m not understanding the multitude of “EPIC FAIL!” reactions about this.
IMDB Plot Synopsis A newly possessed cheerleader turns into a killer who specializes in offing her male classmates. Can her best friend put an end to the horror?
