- Say what you want about this movie, but it pretty much delivers exactly what it says it will. No disappointments there.
- This movie would have benefited from being a silent film, as the dialogue was ridiculously atrocious and I laughed every time anyone opened their mouth.
- Actually, approximately 80% of the dialogue in this movie isn’t in English. Best Foreign Language film nomination, Y/Y?
- It’s well known that I like violent films, but I didn’t enjoy the violence in this. We’re trying to narrow down what exactly I object to in this movie and I think it’s because it’s violence that occurs in South Asian jungles. [Yes, I know, that's weirdly specific.] You mostly find this stuff in Vietnam movies, obviously, and although this one takes place largely in Burma, it still has the same sort of excessive violence against random villagers amidst pointless strife and that’s just not cool. It’s why I find movies like Platoon so disturbing (although unlike this movie, I actually really love Platoon).
- This is not a movie where people can dodge machine gun fire. Who knew that Rambo could actually provide realistic violence?
- One of the mercenaries hired to help find the imprisoned missionaries is one of the advertising agency guys who show up at Dunder Mifflin to help create the Scranton commercial on The Office.
- The single female lead was pretty helpless during the big showdown at the end of the movie and every time they cut to a shot of her, the shot was the exact same: three-quarter profile view shot from somewhere around her midsection and looking up. You know, the exact same shot they always use for Kate on LOST, or so I’m led to believe based on all the shots like that I see in icons.
- Did I mention this movie sucked? Because it did. I secretly like seeing really crappy stuff in January, though, so maybe I don’t actually mind so much.
Rambo
The unnecessary sequel no one asked for is unsurprisingly terrible.
