Stranger Than Fiction

How refreshing, an intelligent movie!

IMDB Plot Synopsis An IRS auditor suddenly finds himself the subject of narration only he can hear: narration that begins to affect his entire life, from his work, to his love-interest, to his death.

  1. The university buildings where Dustin Hoffmann’s character worked were so ugly I was convinced it was filmed at my alma mater. [It wasn't.]
  2. You know that bit in Fight Club where they make the screen look like an Ikea catalogue? They did a similar thing to that in this movie, only it was counting and recording all of Harold Crick’s obsessive observations, which was sort of neat.
  3. BUSTER BLUTH AT SPACE CAMP FTW.
  4. Emma Thompson saving her cigarettes in damp Kleenexes for later was absolutely disgusting, ew.
  5. Harold’s guitar amp goes to eleven. (!)
  6. I like Will Ferrell more and more every time I see him in something. This is alarming, as I always hope that the careers of people on SNL will whither and die when they leave the show for the silver screen.
  7. I like a comedy that’s funny in an intelligent way. Stranger Than Fiction is pretty much the exact opposite of Borat as a result. There were some pretty hysterical lines revolving around the idea of anarchist needlepoint groups.
