There goes my theory that Kate Winslet divorced Sam Mendes for signing the Roman Polanski petition:

The film will be set in Brooklyn, though the production will film in France. The film is being co-produced by French producer SBS and Constantin Film of Germany. Polanski worked on the screenplay alongside playwright Reza.

Yes, the only world in which it makes sense that France is an adequate stand in for Brooklyn is a world where people are inexplicably still clamouring to work with rapists. KATE, WHY.

My sister emailed me this morning to tell me the all-important news that Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes are apparently getting divorced. My first thought was that I hope it was because he signed the Roman Polanski petition. My second thought was that now she can date Leonardo DiCaprio. I am a terrible person, I know. I do not normally care about the personal lives of celebrities, especially when it comes to who they date, but I’ve always loved that Kate and Leo are BFF in real life and thus I want them to get married and have thespian babies together. (I’ve also secretly theorized that this is why Leo dates random models all the time, because he’s been biding his time.)

I’m saying this out loud because I know you were thinking it.

Oh hooray, people, Sam Mendes is directing Bond 23. Did he ever unsign the Roman Polanski petition? Did Kate Winslet secretly divorce him yet? I have not been overly thrilled by his last two outings but maybe he’ll turn himself around.

Actually, now that I put Kate Winslet and Bond in the same sentence, I want to see her in an action movie as a Bond girl. OMG. It won’t happen, but I can dream. I put her name into a Bond girl name generator and it gave me “Nadia B. Ness”. Not that fabulous.
