Went to see The Devil Wears Prada with my mom. I actually don’t have a ton to say about it, other than that it was fairly enjoyable. But that’s to be expected with Meryl Streep, isn’t it? Because she’s pretty much the definition of awesome most days and she just completely controls every scene she’s in (which is the entire point, of course).
I learned two things, though:
- Always own at least two (if not two hundred) really great coats.
- A future with grey hair need not be a horrible thing.
Point #2 is the more important thing here, because it’s what I have to look forward to. I’ve been going grey since I was fourteen* and my mother’s hair has resembled Meryl Streep’s in this movie since my mom was in her early thirties, at least. But as both my mother and Meryl Streep prove, grey hair can look fantastic, so points to the stylists for resisting what I assume would be the natural urge to keep her hair blonde. It made all the difference between making Streep ordinarily beautiful and absolutely striking.
*I found my first grey hair January 17, 1997. WOE!
