turns out I am not actually dead

turns out I am not actually dead

It’s taken me nearly two years to finish this quilt but, goddamnit, I’ve done it.

I can’t remember if I mentioned it previously, but these pieced half-square triangles were what originally inspired the quilt block. I off-set the diamond pattern, though, because why make it all symmetrical and even if you don’t have to?

Because there was so much going on in each of the coloured sections of the block, I didn’t want to add any kind of quilting on top of those areas so I left the quilting to the white section. I’ve always been interested in how shades of white work on one another and so I thought the texture and shading added by straight quilted lines in an otherwise boring expanse of fabric would add a bit of visual interest.

Still trying to decide what should be next on the quilting agenda. I still want to make a Josef Albers-inspired quilt, as well as a St. Clair West barcode quilt, but I’ve also become weirdly obsessed with all the Union Jack quilts I’ve seen lately. SO MANY IDEAS, SO MUCH LAZINESS!
